The launch of Fortnite’s new season has been postponed due to technical difficulties

Fortnite new season

Epic Games always takes Fortnite offline for maintenance on Fridays in between seasons to prepare it for new features. Chapter 5 Season 2 will now be delayed, despite the fact that these outages usually last a few hours. Epic encountered an unforeseen problem.

“We apologise to inform you that we encountered an unforeseen problem during our maintenance, necessitating an extension of Fortnite’s new season downtime by at least 8 additional hours,” a post on the Fortnite Status X account at 9:14AM ET reads. “We apologise for the lengthy wait for the release of fortnite chapter 5 season 2 battle pass. Our staff is working hard to remedy this issue, and we will provide additional updates as soon as possible.

Epic issued an update at 4 p.m., informing fans that work to put the game back online was ongoing. “Players will be able to pre-download an updated version of v29.00 in approximately 5 hours,” according to the announcement. “We’re grateful for your patience and can’t wait for everyone to be able to jump in.” That means gamers won’t be able to start the next season until at least 9 p.m., which means Fortnite will have been offline for approximately 18 hours.

We’re still working to bring Fortnite back online. Players will be able to pre-download the latest version of v29.00 in about 5 hours.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to everyone joining in. —(@FortniteStatus), March 8, 2024

The delay is unfortunate, considering the new season appears compelling. Myths and Mortals focuses on Greek gods. The Fortnite new season battle royale allows you to gain skins for Aphrodite, Medusa, and Poseidon, as well as wield mythical powers like Zeus’ lightning bolts and the Wings of Icarus.

Apple has changed its mind on banning the Epic developer account after learning that investigators from the European Union were looking into the matter.

Epic has also included some intriguing new locales on the island, like Mount Olympus and Hades’ Underworld. A frightening rendition of the River Styx, guarded by Cerberus, leads to the latter.
